There comes a time in some quilters’ lives when they can no longer quilt, even though their love for the craft remains. Over the years, they may have collected yards of beautiful fabric, carefully chosen patterns, quilting tools, and unfinished projects—often called UFOs. Every piece holds memories of plans, friendships, and hours spent creating.
A Gift That Keeps Their Love of Quilting Alive
For families, deciding what to do with a loved one’s sewing room can feel overwhelming. They may not know the stories behind the fabrics or how much the unfinished projects meant. Many quilters worry that the supplies they treasured might end up somewhere they will not be appreciated.
Athens Dixie Stitchers offers another possibility: a caring quilting community that understands the meaning behind those fabrics, tools, and projects.
From Treasured Fabric to Quilts of Comfort
We welcome donations of quilting fabrics, unfinished quilt projects, and quilting supplies. Whenever practical, our members will put these materials to use creating charity quilts and supporting the work of our guild.
We also recognize that each collection represents a quilter’s personal history. Our goal is to treat these gifts with appreciation and care, carrying forward the spirit of the person who gathered them.
You Do Not Have to Be a Guild Member
Donations are welcome from quilters and families throughout our community, whether or not the quilter ever belonged to Athens Dixie Stitchers.
If you are downsizing a sewing room, can no longer quilt, or are caring for the quilting supplies of someone who has passed away, please reach out to discuss a donation.
